Indoor Air Quality in a Theatre in the West End
Responding to concerns from the cast, the management of a prestigious west end theatre called in Synergy Environmental Solutions to measure the air quality in the auditorium and dressing rooms.
The purpose of the work was to search for the causes of ill health that are experienced by the cast when working in the building.
Synergy undertook monitoring for carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, relative humidity, temperature, volatile organic compounds, mould volatile organic compounds, formaldehydes and dust mite allergens.
Many indoor air quality (IAQ) issues can be easily remediated or eliminated. This survey is invaluable, because it provides information on air quality issues in the building that cannot be detected by a visual inspection alone. Acting upon the information reported will allow the theatre staff to dramatically improve the air quality in the building, creating a healthier environment for all that work there.
